by Tommy Jasmin What's hot and what's not - April 2007 The 2007 2nd quarter pricing data is now available. Login and see how the current market is affecting your collection value. Below I highlight an area in each category where demand and values are increasing, and an area in each category where demand and values are dropping. Comics Hot! Silver Age Marvel Keys are up. In fact, this seems to be the only area making any gains right now, with pretty much everything else either flat or down. If you peruse our Top 100 list this month, you'll see some of the biggest movers are Spider-Man 1, X-Men 1, and Journey into Mystery 83. The GD+/VG- 3.0 Amazing Spider-Man 1 shown below sold in a recent Heritage auction for $1,792.50, 20% higher than our value last quarter of $1,400.00. Of course, we gather enough sales data that our Spider-Man pricing is almost always spot-on, so our pricing algorithms have tightened to $1,680.00 for this quarter. Just wait until a NM 9.4 copy of this book goes on the market. Not! Silver Age DC Keys are down. We firmly believe that sometime in the next few years, the value of Amazing Fantasy 15 (currently #17 on the Top 100 list) will surpass Showcase 4 (currently #15 on the Top 100 list), the issue that started the Silver Age. The NM- 9.2 Showcase 75 shown below, with the 1st Hawk & Dove appearance and Steve Ditko art, sold for $131.45 in a recent Heritage auction, well below last years Overstreet NM- 9.2 price of $195. The Current Nosto value in NM- 9.2 is $134.00. © Heritage Galleries Coins Hot! Perfect and PCGS, that seems to be the hot spot our pricing algorithms have revealed this quarter. Sales of items given a perfect score of 70 by PCGS have caused huge price increases this quarter. Have a look at the 1974-S Silver PR-70 Deep Cameo Eisenhower Dollar below. It sold in a recent Heritage auction for a stunning $4,312.50. Needless to say, our pricing in this grade took a big jump this quarter. Not! Perfect and ICG, that seems to be the weak spot this quarter. Sales of items given a perfect score of 70 by ICG are going for well under current Nostomania values. Have a look at the 1959 PR-70 Red Lincoln Cent shown below, which sold in a recent Heritage auction for only $54.00. Our pricing for this item had been over $200.00 at the time for that grade and designation. © Heritage Galleries Prizes Don't forget, all you have to do is create a single Collection, Wantlist, or Salelist item during the appropriate month to qualify for our sweepstakes. Why not take a look and see what we're giving away (and gave away last month), free as always. Thanks, we'll see you all next month. Visit our NostoNews Archive. |
