NostoNews, December 1, 2007 by Tommy Jasmin 2007 Winds Down As the year winds down, I want to thank everyone who stops by Nostomania to manage their collection, shop, research pricing data, or just poke around. And I wish you all the best in 2008. I know there are a few of you who would like us to just go away - well, you should know by now that's just not going to happen. It's nice to see Nostomania gain recognition too, as you see us referenced more often in news reports (such as this one), blogs, and other Internet venues. We're wearing the industry down with honesty and facts. True, it's not always positive references I see. The most common negative commentary (almost always in some forum) is due to simple misunderstanding of our pricing data. People view pricing at the highest grade, and misinterpret it. Pricing at the top (MT 10.0 for comics and magazines, and MS-70 for coins) is in many cases a theoretical, computed value for items that most likely do not exist. It's there for completeness, and because our algorithms are designed to compute pricing at all grades. But one of our goals is to educate and inform, and we are working on ways to convey the data and its meanings better. Looking forward to 2008, we'd like to hear more from our users, especially the Premium Subscribers. What would you like to see next? Forums? Pricing broken out by specific grading services? New categories? If it makes sense and you want it, we can do it. Why do I say especially Premium Subscribers? Don't get me wrong; you're all very welcome here, a Basic (free) subscription is fine. But we like the Premium Subscribers because to us that's a way of saying "we take you seriously, and appreciate your service". After all, it's only $2.99 a month - less than you pay for your latte or cappuccino each day. Something we hope you'll consider. Despite what was for many a gloomy economic year, collecting is alive and well. Stop by often in 2008 to see what new features we come up with. Best wishes this holiday season and the new year.
